LADOT Speed Hump Application Opens Wednesday, September 16, at 8 AM

September 15, 2020

Tired of Speeding on your street? Starting on Wednesday, September 16th at 8AM.  LADOT will initiate a new round of the city speed hump application cycle which opens every 6 months. Residents may petition the department for the construction of speed humps at new locations provided that certain criteria are met.  Details may be found on the LADOT speed hump request page.

Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly after the application opens due to high demand.  The application will close when 450 applications (30 in each council office) have been submitted. This number allows LADOT’s limited staff to study all the applications in a “batch” and build in a “batch” as efficiently as possible.

NOTE: Completing a speed hump request involves multiple steps of engagement and technical review with specific criteria that need to be met.  LADOT has posted two documents that define the Evaluation Guidelines that the City uses for its decision, as well as a brief fact sheet on speed humps.  We encourage you to review these before you decide to apply.
