Education has always been at the forefront of the Northridge East Neighborhood Council’s agenda, and the academic achievement award presented to Oliver Wendell Holmes International Middle School at their general meeting in November is proof of that commitment.
NENC presented Holmes Middle School with a plaque honoring the school’s academic achievements over the last couple of years. Holmes has raised its state standardized testing scores by more than 30 points.
“I was tickled pink by the award,” said Holmes’ Assistant Principal Ted Yamane. “We worked hard. We have a great group of teachers and staff; our hard work paid off. We were recognized by the state of California and now by the Northridge East Neighborhood Council. We are going in the right direction. It’s a great thing.”
The presentation of this award is just another testament to NENC’s efforts to make Northridge a better place to live, work, play and learn.
