Everyone deserves safe streets, but if cars are speeding on your residential street, you can apply for a speed hump to be installed. Before applying, please be aware that completing a speed hump request involves multiple steps of engagement and technical review. You should also know that due to LADOT’s limited budget, we can only construct a limited number of speed humps citywide. LADOT prioritizes requests based on technical feasibility and need.
ADOT’s Residential Speed Hump Program will begin accepting new initial applications on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 9:00AM PST. Applications can only be submitted online. A link will be provided on this page on the open application day. Due to high demand, applicants are encouraged to apply promptly once the application period opens. The application period will close when 375 applications (25 in each Council District) have been submitted.
Click on the “Documents” link below to view the updated 2022 Speed Hump Program Evaluation Guidelines and 2022 Fact Sheet that the City uses to determine if your street meets the criteria required for speed hump installation. We encourage you to review these documents before you decide to apply. Only one applicant per street segment request will be allowed. The applicant will be the Block Representative and will be responsible for all related correspondence with our staff.
Applicants should utilize this Los Angeles Neighborhood Info link now to determine the Los Angeles City Council District that they live in. This City Council District information will be needed as part of the online application process.
DOT has determined that all previous applications that have not been approved for construction are now closed. Previous applicants that still wish to be considered for speed hump installation must reapply. This will allow for all applications to be ranked with new post pandemic data so that all applicants are evenly compared.
