At the July 20 meeting of Northridge East NC, the Board unanimously approved a motion by Board member Don Dwiggins to host a picnic for members of the Nextdoor.com members who are also stakeholders in NENC. This picnic is planned to be held in September or October, as an outreach effort by NENC, to provide an opportunity for Nextdoor participants who’ve been communicating via Nextdoor to meet each other face to face. We also envision inviting the other Northridge NCs, Northridge West and South, to join us in co-hosting the event, and correspondingly broadening the people invited.
In order for this picnic to take place, we need to bring together an ad-hoc committee to plan the event, propose funding by NENC, and coordinate all the usual activities necessary for an event like this.
Consider this a call for volunteers to staff this committee. At the August Board meeting of NENC (to be held August 17 at Northridge Woman’s Club on Lassen just east of Reseda), Don will propose Board approval of the Committee and present a preliminary plan of action. We’ll likely need an initial, informal meeting to present a well-thought out plan, covering the membership of the committee, the major issues that will need to be addressed, a proposed time frame, etc.
